To see in Paris this week (8th of December)
Christmas is comming ahead! This week’s cultural activities are designed to make you feel this festive atmosphere, with a number of festivals, concerts, performances and exhibitions. Be sure to make the most of it!
Dance performances
Paris Opera Ballet’s Nutcracker (Opéra Bastille)
Marius Petipa’s ballet on Tchaikovsky’s music was readaptated by Rudolf Noureyev for Paris Opera Ballet in 1985. Everything is festive and Christmas-like in this beautiful work: wonderful dancers, music, scenery and costumes. A must-see for everybody: beyond the fairy-tale, Noureyev’s intricate choreography is a high stake for soloists, with real psychological and technical complexity.
The Opera’s other venue, the Palais Garnier, is setting Jean-Guillaume Bart’s production of La Source.
From Nov. 26th to Dec. 29th. Information & reservations here.
Les Inaccoutumés festival (La Ménagerie de Verre, Paris)
The Ménagerie de Verre is a unique venue in Paris for contemporary creation. Its festival Les Inaccoutumés displays several artists, from the well-known Jérôme Bel (Jérôme Bel, 1995) and Philippe Quesne (La démangeaison des ailes, 2004), to younger artists. During this second and last week, you will have the opportunity to discover Raymund Hoghe’s An evening with Judy, and Claudia Triozzi’s Avanti tutta – 30 ans dans un an et tant pis pour ceux qui sont fatigués.
