About the work:

LA FORÊT

In this series, the viewer asks themselves “what am I looking at?” They search the swarming grain of the landscape for a familiar shape, but struggle to find one. The human body holds no special status within the image, it is equal to what surrounds it. La Forêt questions the nude as a genre by contorting the human body into a chimera of flesh inextricable from the whole. It calls into question the separation between the human (supposed source of artifice) and the natural, the inert and the living.

ECSTATIC DEATH OF THE FIRST HEAVENLY BODY

In this series, the viewer asks themselves “through what am I looking?” The swarming grain found in the landscapes of the first few images in the series (and also visible in “La Forêt”) progress towards an artificial obfuscation created by spreading glass frit on the photographic paper to deform the incoming light. The shape in the original photograph thus becomes obscured, indicipherable. The series draws the viewer into a human shape made of vibrating atoms until they get lost in (almost cosmological) macro shots of human genitalia. The instability of matter itself is revealed, a reality in constant mutation.
